Here is the Superbowl Edition of mocknfldrafts.blogspot.com. Feel free to leave your comments below
#1 - Indianapolis, Andrew Luck QB, Stanford (underclassman)
Needs: CB, DT, OT, QB - BPA vs Need Quotient=5.7
It looks more and more likely Peyton Manning won’t be a Colt in 2012, either way Luck is going number #1.
#2 - St Louis, TRADE with Miami, Robert Griffin III-Quarterback, Baylor
Needs: ROT, DE, OL, TE, FS - BNQ=3.4
The rumours are rife that someone will deal with Jeff Fisher and St Louis for a host of draft picks to ensure RGIII heads their way. We like Miami to make a play but Washington, Kansas City and Seattle are also in the mix.
#3 Minnesota, Morris Claiborne-Cornerback, LSU (underclassman)
Needs: CB, DB, DT, LOT, WR - BNQ=2.7
Minnesota reached last year to get Ponder and may go back to the well for Justin Blackmon but the receiver has some off-field concerns and the Vikings could do worse than get an immediate starter in Claiborne to assist their horrible secondary.
#4 Cleveland, Matt Kalil-Offensive Tackle, USC (underclassman)
Needs: QB, ROT, RB, WR, DB - BNQ=4.0
They may like Riley Reiff more or even Trent Richardson or Justin Blackmon but at this stage we will predict Holmgren makes the safe bet in Kalil. If RGIII fell to them they may take that chance also but don’t expect them to trade up for him.
#5 - Tampa Bay, Trent Richardson-Halfback, Alabama (underclassman)
Needs: OLB, ILB, CB, RB, OL - BNQ=5.4
Expect the Bucs to try and trade out of this pick as their needs aren’t matched up right but Trent Richardson could give their new coach Greg Schiano a gamebreaker.
#6 Washington, Justin Blackmon-Wide Receiver, Oklahoma State
Needs: QB, WR, CB, ROT, RB - BNQ=5.8
Shanahan will need to make a decision on whether he will stick with Grossman, take a chance that Nick Foles falls to the second round or take Ryan Tannehill. We believe that Foles may rise into the first round but right now it remains a viable option for Washington to wait and take a top flight receiver instead in Blackmon.
#7 Jacksonville, Michael Floyd-Wide Receiver, Notre Dame
Needs: WR, CB, DE, OL, TE - BNQ=5.5
Jacksonville will want to add a skill position with a new owner and coach in charge unless they look at someone who can rush the passer. Floyd’s draft stock is dropping a little bit but until we get to the combine we will stick with Floyd to the Jaguars.
#8/#9 St. Louis (from Miami), Riley Reiff-Offensive Tackle, Iowa (underclassman)
Needs: CB, OLB, DT, LOT, WR - BNQ=4.5
The Rams have plenty of needs but Reiff just might match up best, besides Mike Mayock has him as the number one Offensive Tackle prospect so what’s not to like?
#8/#9 Carolina TRADE with Seattle, Ryan Tannehill-Quarterback, Texas A&M
Needs: QB, PR, OLD, DE, DT - BNQ=4.5
The Seahawks need a QB and will jump ahead of other potential QB buyers in Kansas City and Buffalo to get Tannehill who has a lot of upside and would work well in a West Coast system.
#10 - Buffalo, Quinton Coples-Defensive End, North Carolina
Needs: DE, CB, WR, LOT - BNQ=4.9
A lot of people down Buffalo way desperately want the Bills to draft a Quarterback to compete or be groomed with Ryan Fitzpatrick but if the top 3 prospects are already off the board at #10 it leaves players from their four biggest needs to choose from. Jonathan Martin is probably the best choice of those however Buddy Nix has shown no propensity to draft Offensive Tackles in the early rounds which leaves Coples to add a pass rush threat to the Bills new 4-3 front.
#11/#12 Kansas City, Jonathan Martin-Offensive Tackle, Stanford (underclassman)
Needs: OT, NT, ILB, QB, CB = BNQ=3.9
Jonathan Martin is one of the top players on the board in a position of most need for the Chiefs, a simple choice and an immediate upgrade for new coach Romeo Crennell.
#11/#12 - Carolina (from Seattle), Devon Still-Defensive Tackle/End, Penn State
Needs: WR, DT, OG, ILB, DB - BNQ=4.0
Devon Still is really climbing the draft boards and the flexible DT in a 4-3 or DE in a 3-4 would be a good addition for the Panthers as they may be changing their defense this year or running more hybrids.
#13 - Arizona, David DeCastro-Offensive Guard, Stanford (underclassman)
Needs: LOT, OL, LB, CB, DB - BNQ=5.4
Arizona like to take a value pick at a position of need. Offensive Linemen are needed in multiple positions and DeCastro’s top ten ranking makes this an easy choice.
#14 – Dallas, Courtney Upshaw-Outside Linebacker/Defensive End, Alabama
Needs: CB, OLB, DE, DB, OL - BNQ=4.0
The choice is between a top flight cornerback or developing a pass rush. Probably Upshaw is the better value and would fit in well to the Cowboys system.
#15 - Philadephia, Donta’ Hightower-Inside Linebacker, Alabama (underclassman)
Needs: ILB, OLB, OL, SS, WR - BNQ=4.1
Luke Kuechly is rated higher than Hightower but Hightower has size and presence and could play either inside or out, Philadelphia need all of the above and may take a chance on the Alabama underclassman.
#16 – NY Jets, Nick Perry-Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, USC
Needs: OLB, S, OL , CB - BNQ=6.3
Normally the Jets are BPA all the way. With the recent Jets controversy surrounding last season’s end and Rex Ryan perhaps they may try something a little different. Perry is still very highly rated but less of a risk than corner’s Janoris Jenkins or Dre Kirkpatrick. Also pass rush was sorely lacking last season and Ryan won’t let that be the case again next year.
#17 - Cincinnati (from Oakland), Alfonzo Dennard-Cornerback, Nebraska
Needs: CB, S, OG, OLB, RB - BNQ=5.3
The Bengals have a few needs but their choice is not clear cut. Kirkpatrick and Jenkins might have more skill but be less reliable than Dennard. Cincy have another pick at #21 so this might be the surest option.
#18 - San Diego, Luke Kuechly-Inside Linebacker, Boston College (underclassman)
Needs: ROT, ILB, OLB, CB, OL - BNQ=3.7
The Chargers keep coach Norv Turner and GM A.J. Smith and draft need. Kuechly will be a huge upgrade to the weak linebacking corps in San Diego.
#19 - Chicago, Melvin Ingram-Defensive End, South Carolina
Needs: WR, OL, DE, DB, TE - BNQ=5.0
The Bears recent draft system is relatively unknown and GM Jerry Angelo has already been fired. We wondered if Matt Forte would be let go but if he returns then receiver or O Line are possibilities. However we go for Melvin Ingram at DE to take the place of free agent Israel Idonije on the edge.
#20 - Tennessee, Peter Konz-Offensive Center, Wisconsin (underclassman)
Needs: DE, OC, WR, DB, OG - BNQ=4.4
If Ingram was still on the board expect the Titans to snatch him up however center is also a need and Peter Konz is highly rated by many. Besides there are many D-Line prospects that could be hanging around by the time Tennessee pick again.
#21 - Cincinnati TRADE with Washington, Nick Foles-Quarterback, Arizona
Foles is the right fit for Shanahan and he takes no chances in trading back into the first round to get his guy.
#22 Cleveland (from Atlanta), Lamar Miller-Running Back, Miami
It seems likely that Cleveland will use one of their 2 first round picks on a skill player. With Foles out then it is most likely Miller or wide receivers Alshon Jeffery or Kendall Wright. We think Miller might go leaving some options at WR and QB down the road.
#23 - Detroit, Kendall Wright-Wide Receiver/Kick Returner, Baylor
Needs: OG, OT, CB, OC - BNQ=4.5
You never quite know which way Detroit will turn come draft day. It would make sense for them to either take a chance on CB’s Dre Kirkpatrick or Janoris Jenkins or go for Cordy Glenn on the O-Line. Right now we have them taking Wright but realistically you could throw a dart at the board at this point and be closer to figuring out what the Lions will do.
#24 - Pittsburgh, Mike Adams-Offensive Tackle, Ohio State
Needs: ILB, NT, OL, S - BNQ=6.7
The question will be if Adams is high enough on the Steelers board to take here as they are highly unlikely to reach. We are projecting Adams will be a big mover between now and April and be good value at #24.
#25 Denver, Dre Kirkpatrick-Cornerback/Punt Returner, Alabama (underclassman)
Needs: WR, RB, ILB, OL, CB - BNQ=7.5
Dre Kirkpatrick is a huge talent and one untimely off-field misdemeanour will deter some but not all. If the Broncos want to continue their climb in 2012 they need more talent on offense but Kirkpatrick could simply be too good to pass up.
#26 - Houston, Dontari Poe-Nose Tackle, Memphis
Needs: OT, NT, OL, DB - BNQ=4.0
Houston’s defense looks great under Wade Phillips but they want a man mountain in the middle to complete the set. Poe is their man.
#27 - New England (from New Orleans), Mark Barron-Strong Safety, Alabama
Needs: OC, DB, DL, OG, WR - BNQ=4.7
The Pats may try to dish this pick to someone like New Orleans or Cincinnati but they also have needs across the secondary and O and D Lines so using both 1st round picks isn’t out of the question either. Barron’s stock has risen sharply of late and would be a great pickup for the Pats.
#28 - Green Bay, Whitney Mercilus-Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Illinois
Needs: OLB, S, DE - BNQ=5.0
Mercilus would be an immediate upgrade to the Packers pass rush which would automatically upgrade their entire defense.
#29 - Baltimore, Jerel Worthy-Defensive Tackle, Michigan State (underclassman)
Needs: LOT, LB, DB, OL - BNQ=6.2
The Ravens need better protection for Joe Flacco but prefer not to reach for tackle Zebrie Sanders instead settling on top prospect Jerel Worthy to play DE in their 3-4.
#30 – San Francisco, Alshon Jeffery-Wide Receiver, Notre Dame
Needs: WR, CB, OL, FS - BNQ=3.5
Jeffery is a prestigious talent and could be just what San Francisco need to assist QB Alex Smith. Coach Jim Harbaugh should be able to keep Jeffery on the straight and narrow which is the biggest concern for most teams looking at receiver help.
#31/#32 - New England, Michael Brockers-Defensive Tackle, LSU
The red-shirted sophomore has a very high grade on him and may go a lot earlier than #31. If the Pats pick ahead of the Giants then he is likely to go here although New York may also go for Brockers if they are at #31.
#31/#32 - NY Giants, Zebrie Sanders-Offensive Tackle, Oklahoma State
Needs: OT, OL, LB, RB - BNQ=3.0
Giants need help on the O-Line quite severely especially at right tackle, expect a need pick here as that is what history tells us with the Giants and the first round.
