Here is the 2nd round of our Mock Draft for this week...
#33 - St. Louis, Lavonte David-Outside Linebacker, Nebraska
We like the look of David out of Nebraska and he projects as an outside linebacker in a 4-3 which is a need for the Rams.
#34 - Indianapolis, Jared Crick-Defensive End/Defensive Tackle, Nebraska
Indy have needs at D-Line as well as corner or O-Line and maybe even running back. Crick is highly regarded and can play either end or tackle which should be enough for the Colts to pull the trigger.
#35 - Minnesota, Chase Minnifield-Cornerback/Kick Returner, Virginia
The Vikes need serious help CB and Minnifield is a guy that could rise the boards before too long with excellence intangibles and ability as a kick returner. Minnesota have Percy Harvin but may want to use him more in the offense and less in special teams. Either way this seems like a good choice for a team that likes to pick need first.
#36 - Tampa Bay, Zach Brown-Outside Linebacker, North Carolina
The Bucs use their first two picks to grow their defense. Zach Brown will rush the pass in a 4-3 although they also like the look of Travis Lewis as an alternative if Brown doesn’t fall this far.
#37 -Cleveland, Dwayne Allen-Tight End, Clemson
The Browns need to give QB Colt McCoy more options so what better than to grab the number one tight end on the board?
#38 - Jacksonville, Whitney Mercilus-Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Illinois
The Jags need help at DE and if Mercilus is still there he would be an obvious choice.
#39 - Washington, Nick Foles-Quarterback, Arizona
Foles is the right fit for Shanahan who now has his starting running back and QB.
#40 - Carolina, Zebrie Sanders-Offensive Tackle, Oklahoma State
There are a few options here for the Panthers but not seeing anyone they like at either WR or ILB they take Sanders who will start at right tackle.
#41 - Buffalo, Chandler Jones-Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Syracuse
Chandler Jones is getting a lot of love from some mockers out there and the junior is from just down the road in Syracuse. GM Buddy Nix said he wanted someone around 6-4 & 260lbs to rush the passer, Jones is 6-5, 265lbs, seems like a good fit. Other options are DB or WR.
#42 -Cleveland (from Miami), Chris Polk-Running Back, Washington
DB is another option or David Wilson but Polk may rise just enough for the Browns to make their move here.
#43 - Seattle, Kirk Cousins-Quarterback, Michigan State
The Seahawks need a better option at QB and Cousins has potential.
#44 - Kansas City, Alameda Ta’amu-Nose Tackle, Washington
Ta’amu is a little high at #44 but won’t be there next time the Chiefs pick so is a logical choice with CB and OL to be looked at later on.
#45 - Dallas, Stephen Gilmore-Cornerback, South Carolina
Gilmore has got potential and fits in better than SS Mark Barron despite the fact Barron grades higher and the Cowboys have needs all over their secondary.
#46 - Philadelphia, Mark Barron-Strong Safety, Alabama
Philly have another pick to come from Arizona and Barron is a position of some need so why not pull the trigger on a guy on top of the board?
#47 - NY Jets, David Wilson-Running Back, Virginia Tech
The Jets will want to get back to ‘ground and pound’ in 2012 with a change at Offensive Coordinator and Wilson could help them do just that.
#48 - San Diego, Nick Toon-Wide Receiver, Wisconsin
If Vincent Jackson leaves town the Chargers will want someone else that Philip Rivers can throw to, Toon fits the bill nicely.
#49 - New England (from Oakland), Jayron Hosley-Cornerback, Virginia Tech
Hosley upgrades the Pats decimated secondary.
#50 - Chicago, Brandon Washington-Offensive Guard, Miami
Former O-Line coach Mike Tice is now in charge of the offense and he gets Washington who seems like a steal at this point to help at guard.
#51 - Philadelphia (from Arizona), Travis Lewis-Outside Linebacker, Oklahoma
The Eagles need to get bigger at outside linebacker and Lewis allows them to do just that.
#52 - Tennessee, Coby Fleener-Tight End, Stanford
Jared Cook showed signs of improvement this season but Fleener is ahead of the other receiver choices out there.
#53 - Cincinnati, Bobby Wagner-Inside Linebacker, Utah State
Wagner could be gone by this time in the draft but if not the Bengals will certainly be happy to add him into the linebacking mix.
#54 - Detroit, Markelle Martin-Free Safety, Oklahoma State
Detroit need help across their secondary, Markelle Martin is a better option than either Trumaine Johnson or Brandon Boykin right now but this could easily change by April.
#55 - Atlanta, Bruce Irvin-Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, West Virginia
Needs: LOT, TE, DB, DE - BNQ=3.3
The Falcons like to take need and have little option as this is their first pick of the draft so Irvin is a nice addition to their improving defence.
#56 - Pittsburgh, Ronnell Lewis-Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Oklahoma
The Steelers like to take BPA and Lewis fits the bill nicely.
#57 - Denver, Kelechi Osemele-Offensive Guard/Tackle, Iowa State
Denver have a few needs but go with the potential in Osemele to cover both guard and tackle.
#58 - NY Giants, Sean Spence - Outside Linebacker Miami (Fla.)
The Giants have a decent pass rush up front but need help in behind at linebacker, Spence is an upgrade but they’d have taken Travis Lewis if he was there ahead of Spence.
#59 Houston, Rueben Randle-Wide Receiver, Oklahoma
Randle isn’t the quickest option out there but he does look like a good shot for #2 opposite Andre Johnson.
#60 - San Francisco, Aaron Henry-Free Safety, Wisconsin
The niners have a strong defense but continue their upgrade with Henry as free safety. Trumaine Johnson or Brandon Boykin are alternatives at CB.
#61 - New Orleans, Billy Wynn-Defensive End/Defensive Tackle, Boise State
Needs: OT, DE, DT, OLB - BNQ=4.8
This guy is big and can rush the passer, just what the Saints require for their first pick of the draft. The Brandon’s Jenkins or Thompson are also possibilities.
#62 - New England, Brandon Thompson-Defensive Tackle, Clemson
This guy is big and strong and will fill the middle made empty by the departure of Albert Haynesworth.
#63 - Baltimore, Andrew Datko-Offensive Tackle, Florida State
Andrew Datko is rising the boards and the Ravens consider him worth taking in the 2nd here to try out at left tackle.
#64 - Green Bay, Orson Charles-Tight End, Georgia
Jermichael Finley is a Free Agent this year so if he doesn’t resign with the Packers than Charles becomes a logical choice for Green Bay to take here.

#62 - Re: Hanyesworth - You should've added...
ReplyDeleteThis guy is big and strong and will fill the middle made empty by the departure of Albert Haynesworth - The added bonus being Brandon Thompson will actually show some heart when on the field...
fair call.
DeleteI guess I was giving Haynesworth the benefit of the doubt but after the Redskins episode and then release by the Patriots that was probably being too kind.
