Latest Mock Draft with a host of changes...
#1 - Indianapolis, Andrew Luck QB, Stanford (underclassman)
Needs: QB, CB, OC, OT - BPA vs Need Quotient=5.7
With Peyton Manning going to Denver, Luck is as sure as it goes for the top spot.
#2 - Washington (from St. Louis), Robert Griffin III-Quarterback, Baylor
Needs: QB, RB, CB, ROT, WR - BNQ=5.8
The Redskins have made the trade and RGIII is going to Washington.
#3 Minnesota, Morris Claiborne-Cornerback, LSU (underclassman)
Needs: CB, DB, DT, WR, OL - BNQ=2.7
The Vikings want to trade this pick and have upgraded at tackle during free agency which leaves the choice between WR Justin Blackmon and CB Morris Claiborne. A cleaner pick we lean towards Claiborne, but it is only a slight lean.
#4 Cleveland, Trent Richardson-Halfback, Alabama (underclassman)
Needs: QB, ROT, RB, WR, DB - BNQ=4.0
The Browns could reach for Ryan Tannehill but it seems more likely they will take their chances with Richardson. Kalil is another option but with 5 time pro bowler Joe Thomas at left tackle it may be an overpay for a right tackle.
#5 - Tampa Bay, Matt Kalil-Offensive Tackle, USC (underclassman)
Needs: OLB, ILB, RB, CB, OL - BNQ=5.4
Expect the Bucs to try and trade out of this pick as their needs aren’t matched up right. Alternatively they will take the BPA in Matt Kalil who is a steal at #5.
#6 St. Louis (from Washington), Justin Blackmon-Wide Receiver, Oklahoma State
Needs: OLB, DT, LOT, WR, CB - BNQ=4.5
Sam Bradford needs a viable number 1 target. Blackmon gives it to him.
#7 Jacksonville, Quinton Coples-Defensive End, North Carolina
Needs: WR, DE, CB, OL, TE - BNQ=5.5
Michael Floyd or Kendall Wright are more flashy options but either Coples or Melvin Ingram will upgrade the DE position and are probably better prospects.
#8/#9 Miami, Melvin Ingram-Defensive End, South Carolina
Needs: ROT, DE, OL, TE, FS - BNQ=3.4
Miami are making big changes but Ingram could really deliver them a punch at DE and may win over from Riley Reiff or Jonathan Martin.
#9/#8 - Carolina, Michael Brockers-Defensive Tackle, LSU
Needs: WR, DT, OG, DB - BNQ=4.0
This pick will depend largely on what defense the Panthers go with this year but the Sophomore out of LSU has really impressed people both on and off the field and looks a solid top ten pick.
#10 - Buffalo, Michael Floyd-Wide Receiver, Notre Dame
Needs: LOT, CB, WR, OLB - BNQ=4.9
The four options here revolve around whether the Bills will buck a trend and go with either a Left Tackle or a Quarterback with their number 1 pick, or will they take a top flight receiver or cornerback? Fixing defense through free agency means they may go offense and give QB Ryan Fitzpatrick a credible 1-2 with Stevie Johnson.
#11/#12 Kansas City, Dontari Poe-Nose Tackle, Memphis
Needs: NT, ILB, OT, QB, WR = BNQ=3.9
The Chiefs have a few needs and Jonathan Martin, Luke Kuechly or Ryan Tannehill all fit here but Dontari Poe is becoming the sensation of the draft and with Nose Tackle one of the hardest positions to fill in the NFL the Chiefs may make their move in such a direction.
#12/#11 Seattle, Whitney Mercilus-Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Illinois
Needs: OLB, DE, WR, DT - BNQ=4.5
Seattle aren’t afraid to make bold moves in the early rounds of the draft. They need a pass rush and Mercilus might be the best such option out there.
#13 - Arizona, David DeCastro-Offensive Guard, Stanford
Needs: LB, CB, RB, OL, DB - BNQ=5.4
Dre Kirkpatrick makes an interesting push to go alongside Patrick Peterson but David DeCastro has potential to kick outside to tackle and will add much needed depth across the O-Line.
#14 – Dallas, Dre Kirkpatrick-Cornerback/Punt Returner, Alabama (underclassman)
Needs: CB, OLB, OL - BNQ=4.0
It seems like Dallas and Kirkpatrick could be a very good fit. Kirkpatrick’s off-field issues is the only thing counting against him here.
#15 - Philadephia, Ryan Tannehill-Quarterback, Texas A&M
Needs: ILB, OLB, SS, OL - BNQ=4.1
Someone will take Tannehill by #15 as long as he is healthy. The Eagles need someone to backup Vick in case he goes down for an extended period and we’re not sure if Vince Young or Mike Kafka are the options.
#16 – NY Jets, Courtney Upshaw-Outside Linebacker/Defensive End, Alabama
Needs: OLB, OL, DB - BNQ=6.3
Pass Rush. Strangely missing from a Ryan coached team. Upshaw will upgrade immediately.
#17 - Cincinnati (from Oakland), Jonathan Martin-Offensive Tackle, Stanford (underclassman)
Needs: RB, DB, OLB, OT - BNQ=5.3
The Bengals have two picks so may try to hold off on Martin with fellow tackles Reiff and Adams on the board but seeing as their other needs also lack a standout player at this point Martin seems a logical choice.
#18 - San Diego, Luke Kuechly-Inside Linebacker, Boston College (underclassman)
Needs: ROT, CB, ILB, OLB, OL - BNQ=3.7
The needs stack up for the Chargers to go in a few different directions here but for now we say they take Kuechly.
#19 - Chicago, Rueben Randle-Wide Receiver, LSU
Needs: WR, OL, RB, DB, TE - BNQ=5.0
The Bears need wide receiver help badly. Randle has a safe pair of hands and will be an immediate number 1 for QB Jay Cutler.
#20 - Tennessee, Fletcher Cox-Defensive End/Tackle, Mississippi State
Needs: DE, OC, WR, DB, OG - BNQ=4.4
They aren’t finished in free agency just yet but we say that someone to start in the front four makes sense here.
#21 - Cincinnati, Stephen Gilmore-Cornerback, South Carolina
Gilmore continues to rise up the draft boards and Cincy’s need at corner makes him the obvious choice at #21.
#22 Cleveland (from Atlanta), Riley Reiff-Offensive Tackle, Iowa (underclassman)
Three weeks ago the only way I had the Browns taking Reiff was with their #4 pick overall, however a bad combine and pro day has changed all that. Still for a team in need of a right tackle, Reiff could be a steal at #22.
#23 - Detroit, Mike Adams-Offensive Tackle, Ohio State
Needs: OG, OT, CB, OC - BNQ=4.5
Mike Adams or Cordy Glenn? Glenn is the safer pick but Adams has the bigger upside. Either player will enhance an ordinary O-Line.
#24 - Pittsburgh, Cordy Glenn-Offensive Guard, Georgia
Needs: ILB, NT, OL, S - BNQ=6.7
There are a few options for the Steelers but for a team that likes to go BPA we have them taking Glenn here.
#25 Denver, Kendall Wright-Wide Receiver/Kick Returner, Baylor
Needs: WR, RB, OL, LB, CB - BNQ=7.5
Denver are looking for running backs and wide receivers to help out new QB Peyton Manning. Right now Kendall Wright is as good as any player still on the board and fits the bill perfectly.
#26 - Houston, Stephen Hill-Wide Receiver, Georgia Tech
Needs: OT, NT, OL, DB - BNQ=4.0
We think Houston will try and trade up to get either Adams, Glenn or Reiff but if they are unsuccessful there they may go out of the box in Stephen Hill who gives the Texans someone to throw to that isn’t named Johnson.
#27 - New England (from New Orleans), Devon Still-Defensive Tackle/End, Penn State
Needs: OC, DB, RB - BNQ=4.7
Another team looking to trade but this time down. Devon Still would be a good BPA pick as an alternative.
#28 - Green Bay, Nick Perry-Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, USC
Needs: OLB, S, DE - BNQ=5.0
If the Packers can improve their pass rush they will be the team to beat again in the NFC. Nick Perry is the guy they will hang their hat on.
#29 - Baltimore, Alshon Jeffery-Wide Receiver, Notre Dame
Needs: LOT, LB, DB, OL - BNQ=6.2
The Ravens need better protection for Joe Flacco and will be looking to trade up to find it. Alternatively they will take a chance on receiver Alshon Jeffery who could be anything.
#30 – San Francisco, Brandon Weeden-Quarterback, Oklahoma State
Needs: QB, DB, WR - BNQ=3.5
It stands to reason that someone will take a chance on the 28 year old senior out of Oklahoma State. The Niners are in the best position to do just that.
#31 - New England, Janoris Jenkins-Cornerback, North Alabama
Belichick isn’t afraid of picking players that other teams may shun. Jenkins would upgrade a secondary that is in need of depth but will the off-field issues carry over to the NFL?
#32 - NY Giants, #32 - NY Giants, Donta’ Hightower-Inside Linebacker, Alabama (underclassman)
Needs: OT, OL, LB, RB, WR - BNQ=3.0
Giants need assistance across the O-Line, at Linebacker and at Running Back and Receiver. In the end Hightower gives them the biggest upside but RB and WR will be looked at in Round 2.
